FACEBOOK VIRUS

Monday, March 8, 2010

There are many new attacks circulating from Facebook. One in which comes from a unknown hack. Should you recieve an IM on MSN or Yahoo prompting you to open a email or a message asking you to "check out" a friends pictures in a message such as this...("hey, "your name" What's up? I posted some cool pictures online, and I thought you might like to see them real quick.) Then you are directed once clicking the link to a site that looks just like Facebook's log in or even MSN log in. The site asks for your email address and your password. Once you enter the information, page won't load, but in the mean time a "bot" takes your email info and hacks your email account, rather quickly, and changes your password . Then it searches your emails for your facebook account messages, friend requests and the like, then logs into your facebook account and changes your password. Then starts spamming your friends with the same link message you just got fooled into using.

If you find yourself attacked in such a way, automatically try to log into a linked MSN account, or try to change your password ASAP on yahoo. You might beat the "bot", but if not, try whatever you can to get the password changed. Such as asking for a new password request to be sent to a alternate account or reporting it to your email provider.

This happened to me once. What it is that you get a IM message like I said, from a friend you normally don't hesitate to accept a message from. I was lucky due to the fact I had several linked accounts and was able to switch the password quickly.

I hope nobody falls for this one. It's a horrible attack and it is happening everyday!!
